Beccy Owen: “Hush Club”

Beccy Owen’s Hush Club is a multi-art form, ever-evolving piece that is for everyone, although it is particularly geared towards those of us who may struggle to ‘switch off’ and need to find ways to lower our anxiety levels in an increasingly pressurised world.
Hush Club is essentially a secular project, however, it also taps into a spiritual lineage of ‘medicine songs’ that Beccy draws from her Welsh and Eastern European heritage as well as channeling influences from South Asia and beyond.
The compositional elements of Hush Club always begin at the water’s edge, and incorporate material generated on the day of a live performance as a result of Beccy spending time near the local water of the area in which she is performing. The sound elements of Hush Club use environmental ambience, voice, breath, percussion, sound-healing modalities, field recordings and spectral frequencies in order to translate and share what the water ‘says’. Films may accompany this ‘liquid score’.
Tickets are £5, free for under-25s and you can pay on the door.
