Performance and Exhibition

In July Stone Meets Sky joined forces with local primary schools for an amazing collective celebration held in the IMAX cinema at Rheged Visitor Centre, Penrith. Parents and invited guests enjoyed a performance of singing, jazz, brass, drums, ukuleles as well as film shorts and poetry created by themselves. Over 160 children and young people took part.

July also saw an exhibition of photographs, poetry and video at The Soup Shop in Penrith curated by Jess Robinson and Helen Southernwood, with live performance at the opening.

“I think I’ve gained more creative skills such as learning to be much more creative with what I see”. “I’m learning much more about photography and cameras: learning by making mistakes and put them right” – Jess

In November, a final celebration and sharing of the project took place in Penrith and Eden Museum. A wonderful evening of live music, film and photography to an enraptured audience.

“Wonderful to see the young people expressing themselves through sound and vision”
“Always unusual, taking things to a different level”
“Lovely music, talented young people”
